The RPCC Housing Action Program works with tenants and landlords to ensure that they understand the specific rights and responsibilities assigned to both renters and property owners under the terms of the Chicago Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance. In that capacity, RPCC provides technical assistance to tenants and landlords to improve the rental/ownership experience in Rogers Park and other local communities.
RPCC, in partnership with the City of Chicago Department of Community Development and other local organizations, is the central Housing Resource Center (“HRC”) for the north side of Chicago. In this capacity, RPCC works to:
-Provide training for renters and property owners -Provide resources for conflict and problem resolution -Make referrals of programs, services, and training -Improve the quality of affordable rental housing -Increase the commitment of local residents to work together for a greater Chicago
The Housing Resource Center, in conjunction with RPCDC, presents HUD-certified First-Time Homebuyer Landlord Training. This training provides an opportunity for the first-time homebuyer of a multi-unit property to understand the roles, rights, responsibilities, and remedies of both landlords and tenants under the terms of a lease agreement. The training can be presented in English and Spanish.
